At about the stroke of midnight (EST) Governor Mitt Romney conceded to President Barack Obama in the November 6, 2012 presidential election. He explained to his supporters and the American people that it was time to come together, pray for the success of this administration in getting through the recession, and dumping our political partisan divide. Whereas, that was a nice concession speech, and the right thing and most expedient political thing to say at the time, I completely and will forever respectfully disagree. Okay so let's talk shall we?
Let me ask you the reader a question; "should the American people really give up on partisan politics, should the Republicans really start working closer with the Democrats and left-leaning socialists?" That is to say; does it really make sense to come together for socialism dump the free-market capitalism which has made our nation great, and move forward and progress towards a different socioeconomic style of running our country. I would submit to you that anyone who recommends such a thing needs to reconsider what they've said.
If coming together and dumping the political partisan divide and working across the aisle with the Democrats means spending more money, and continuing the budget deficits of over $1 trillion a year, and adding another $5 trillion in debt over the next four years, then that is unacceptable. Not only economically because it is literally economic suicide, but it is the wrong way forward for our country. All you have to do is look at the PIIGS (Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, and Spain) in Europe to realize that socialism is a dead end for any economy. It is where the wealth of individuals gets siphoned off, and plundered by government during its redistribution.
This is an economic cliff where the government "runs out of other people's money to spend," so it raises taxes, slowing the economy even more, until everything comes to a standstill. At that point no one has a job, there is no quality of life, and the standard of living is finally equal; everyone is equally poor. Somehow, I think that our grandparents and their parents wouldn't be too proud of the route we are taking. It's not going to be a pretty picture in the future. Indeed, this 2012 presidential election was probably one of the most important elections of the last three decades.
The American people have chosen socialism over free-market capitalism. It is my contention that they should have to live with their choice, and be punished for that mistake, and maybe sometime in their life, in the future they will realize what they've done. We don't deserve such a great country if we are willing to so easily vote it away.
There is no honor in what has been done during this 2012 election, and in my personal and professional opinion it is a disgrace to our ancestors and to this great nation. I don't see why anyone who still stands for a strong America would ever wish to come together for socialism. Please consider all this and think on it.
