Non-Profits Aiding Nations in Africa

Non-Profits Aiding Nations in Africa

Do you ever wonder who is lending aid to Africa, around the world? I sometimes do. It's no surprise that many countries in Africa are currently struggling to stay financially afloat. Much of the African population live in poor and unhealthy environments where they are subject to all manner of disease and turmoil. There are so many offering help to these people, but I only have time to list a few. I picked the ones that I personally like, or find fascinating.

C2C - Containers to Clinics

C2C strives to help reduce the mortality rate in the developing parts of the world. They take containers used in shipping, and then convert them into mobile clinics. They then transfer them to where they are needed most. They service women that are pregnant and sick children.

Carr Educational Foundation

CDF is more widely known as Daraja Academy for their first school that opened in Africa. Carr has a vision to send more women to secondary school (the same as high school in the US), believing that education can transcend poverty.

Doctors without Borders

This is definitely the most well known organization on the list. Doctors volunteer their expertise and services and agree to go wherever they are needed. Even if it means they are going into hostile environments.

Ripple Africa

Ripple's slogan is, "Providing a hand up, not a hand out". Their main focus is on education, sponsoring schools from pre-school up to University via sponsoring individual students. They also provide medical support and try to improve the environment by planting trees.

Ket Wangi

Ket is an orphanage in Kisumu, Kenya. Ket Wangi was started by Emily Odera, using what was to be her retirement home. She turned it into the orphanage, as well as having it as a school and widow support group. They are considered a non-profit because they rely on donations to feed the children and pay the teachers.

Help for Humanity

HFH is a charity group based out of the state of New York. They help to fund a multitude of things, such as providing clothing, food, education and medical supplies to struggling developing countries, especially in Africa.

Sahbu

While Sahbu is fairly new in the larger scheme of things, their goal is to send as many underprivileged children as possible to school. They also do fundraising to help rehabilitate former child soldiers.

So there it is, a small list for sure, but one I like nonetheless. Is it biased? Of course it is. That's the fun of it. There are literally thousands of non-profit organizations around that world that are doing wonderful things to help those in need. So many people in Africa need our help and it's amazing to see how many people are willing to give. I wish I had time to search out all the other organizations that offer help to poor, developing countries. Their care and support is what helps make our world great!
