Many voters get confused over economic issues when there are political debates. This is not too surprising because we don't really teach economics in our schools anymore. In fact, we hardly teach anyone how to balance a checkbook, so no wonder people get confused when they can hardly do math, and have trouble reading and writing. All this dumbing down of America in our schools is causing quite a challenge when it comes to our elections. If we don't have informed and educated citizenry, then they are bound to vote for the last liar they hear on a TV commercial "and I approve this message!"
You see, some socialist thinkers believe that when the government hires more people; "The more people working the more they spend and the more products/services businesses sell." This is "Government Trickle Down Economics" and it has been proven not to work, which is why China's stimulus also failed even with their high growth rate. You can't waste money, go into debt doing it, and then claim you are providing jobs - that's just insane, and illogical - and Keynesian Economic theory aside, you certainly cannot do it the way the Obama Administration has and survive as a strong and vibrant free-market economy. Okay so, let's discuss this.
When the government creates jobs, it must get the money from somewhere. It either has to borrow the money, which means it has to be paid back, or it creates the money, meaning there are more dollars in the market, therefore each dollar is worth slightly less. It's amazing in the 1950s how much a dollar would buy, but today it hardly buys anything. I can remember when I first started to drive my gasoline only cost $.35 per gallon. Before I was a teenager, I could go to the movie theater for $.35 too are you beginning to see my point?
Now then, when the government spends money and it has to get that money from somewhere, and often borrows the money; guess who has to pay that back; the taxpayer. If you the taxpayer are paying more money to the government to pay off their old debts for the money they borrowed and blew on stupid things, then you will have less money to spend on your family. Isn't that what's happening to your family right now?
When everyone else has fewer dollars to spend because we gave it all to the government in taxes, that means you can't buy things for yourself. If you don't have money to spend to buy products and services, then fewer people are employed providing those services and products, and that means you might not be employed either. Therefore, by the government providing jobs for government work, it often causes huge job losses in the free-market.
Since most voters don't understand this it's quite easy for a socialist left-leaning politician and their administration to pull a fast one on the citizens making them believe that they will provide jobs, and everything will be happy and wonderful the future. It won't. You should listen, don't vote for anyone who tries to tell you that the government provides jobs, it is the free-market which provides the jobs, and I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
