After looking at the results of the 2012 Presidential elections, I realize President Obama made history once again. You see, he is the first president ever to be reelected while the unemployment figures were over 8% since the great depression. That's amazing, but I am not sure he deserved to. Okay so, that's a heavy statement so, let's talk shall we?
Indeed, CNN posted an article on November 7, 2012 only one day after the 2012 presidential elections that; "Economy tops voter concerns in exit polls," by Halimah Abdullah and Joe Van Kanel which stated that "60% of voters said their top concern was the economy." Yes, we probably already all knew this, but here is something else you might consider I say;
Now then, if 60% of the voters said the economy was the main issue, and since Obama misstated economic performance of his administration during the Florida Presidential debates, then President Obama ended up with votes he didn't deserve. Let's say for kicks, that number was 1%? Remember, the overall popular vote was just about that much in Obama's favor.
Next, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) was said to have faked numbers, this was speculated by Jack Welsh former CEO of GE after the September numbers showing that unemployment went down from 8.1% to 7.8% in one month. Personally, I completely agree, and mind you I am the economic advisor for a think tank. This number came out during the first days of early election and absentee voting in Ohio, a must win swing state. Coincidence, maybe, but I am not so into coincidences considering logical reasoning, Occam's Razor, and the fact that BLS used ACORN volunteers to man the questionnaire calling.
Lastly, we all know that some things were purposely postponed until after the election, for instance the defense firms announcing lay-offs to comply with the 60-day rule due to sequestration. The Obama Administration told them not to follow that law, gave them a waiver and then told them they would cover any costs incurred by failure to notify workers on a timely basis. That helped Obama in VA, another swing state; significantly. The news media never did the story justice.
If Obama had lost VA, OH, and FL based on those three things, and plus another 1% of the popular vote in the swing states, he'd have lost the election to Romney. Seriously, so, I think all this economic manipulation, fabrication, and misstatements, along with potentially an abuse of power at the BLS is worth noting in the upcoming and much needed impeachment proceedings of this lame duck session president. Well, that's my economic analysis, what's yours? Please consider all this and think on it.
